Our Story
Nobody’s Souls is a dog shelter in Romania that provides a home for abandoned, abused and injured dogs. Our goal is to give them a chance at a new life – whether
in a new home, or in the safety of our shelter. With great effort, we are also able to rescue dogs from overcrowded government shelters where they would otherwise have no chance of survival and where they are usually killed.
Our shelter has undergone a big change. The original shelter where we operated for many years no longer met the needs of the dogs or the growing number of rescued animals. So we moved to a new space where we can offer better conditions, more runs and better care. Still, we have a long way to go – there is still much to improve and repair.
The situation in Romania
The situation of stray dogs in Romania is alarming. Tens of thousands of dogs live on the streets, facing hunger, disease and cruel treatment. The state animal protection system does not work effectively and many dogs end up in so-called ‘kill shelters’, where they have only a few days to find a new home before they are euthanised.
Therefore, adoption abroad is the only chance for many dogs to live. We work with individuals and organisations to help our dogs find loving homes. We are always looking for new partners from abroad who would be willing to participate in adoptions to help save as many lives as possible.

The story of our Laura
And so together, we founded a shelter for abandoned dogs in Hunedoara.
Today, we care for nearly 400 dogs. Florin has always been my rock – and he still is, even as he fights for his own life.
Florin has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, multiple myeloma.
Due to the treatments and bone marrow transplants, he has almost lost his sight.
He can only see 20% in one eye and 30% in the other.
He underwent eye surgery to save what little vision he had left.

It all started with one stray dog. Every day, he waited in front of our house.
At first, I ignored him… but after a while, I began bringing him food. This went on for about a week.
And then one day, he didn’t show up.
I searched for him and found out he had been captured and taken to a state shelter.
I rushed to see him. He was there. I promised myself I would come back the next day to bring him home.
But it was too late. They had killed him.
I was devastated. I wanted to give up.
But then my husband Florin said to me: “Tears won’t help. If you want to make a difference, we have to act.”
But now we need to raise 150,000 CZK for further treatment. So far, we’ve only managed to gather a small fraction.
Time is running out. Without treatment, Florin won’t be able to continue helping – and without him, our shelter won’t be the same.
